Advertising

What is the benefit of advertising?  This can be a complicated question to some.  What would you do if you opened a new business?  Would you advertise or would you just think consumers are going to go to your business and purchase your products or services?  If you think that people will just find you and spend their money with you, your wrong.  Just like opening a new business, you have to promote your business and your product/service to potential consumers.  It is a competative world out there and you have to be proactive.

Lets use a pro shop as an example.  With the increase in competition in the bowling industry, specifically with pro shops and online stores, pro shop owners and operators are all battling for the same business.  With that being said, most pro shops are located in bowling centers.  Now, just because your pro shop is located in a bowling center doesn't mean that every bowler that visits that center is going to purchase goods from you.  In addition, there are many other bowling centers out there with pro shops that have the same exact products and services as you, not to mention online stores.  So, how can you increase your customer base?  Well, advertising is definitely a start.  Of course, you have to have something to advertise too.  You can't just say, "Hey, we are here.  So, buy products from us".  You have to give consumers a reason to come in your pro shop, or other place of business, to purchase your products/services.  This can be done by having a sale or other type of promotion, which I know most every business does.  This is where advertising comes into play.  Use advertising and your promotion combined to influence consumer behavior, thereby generating a visit to your establishment.  I can tell you right now, some people don't believe in advertising.  This isn't necessarily a bad thing because people that do believe in advertising have an opportunity to grow their customer base and increase their revenue.

In addition, it isn't just about generating one sale.  It's about generating multiple visits from multiple consumers.  It is about influencing a potential consumer to make another trip to your business and purchase a good or service.  Or, best case scenario, influence a completely new customer to visit your establishment who has never been there before.  No one can tell me that they wouldn't like more customers.  So, think about it.  This is no secret, it's just good business.  Sure there are other variables that can impact a purchase, but if I go any further I would get into an entire different conversation, which would be about sales, marketing, and customer service.  So, we'll leave it at that.  "900 Series Magazine" statistics and advertising rates are below.
